Why is attitude and your mind so important in leadership and in life?

The short answer to that is that it drives everything you do.  Your conscious mind controls your brain activity and your thoughts 5% of the day.

Your unconscious mind controls brain activity and your thoughts 95% of the day.

Developing an awareness of how your mind works and the thinking patterns you have, will enable you to further understand yourself better.  Once you understand your thinking patterns, you can then set about maximising the patterns that are helpful and changing the patterns that do not serve you well, therefore mastering them, rather than them, being the master of you!

When you become the master of your mind, anything becomes possible.

Our tool, The Mind Matrix,   shows you how your mind works.

Our tool, Mind Magic, then shows you how to master your mind.

The Mind Matrix

How our mind works

Our mind is a very complex piece of equipment.  However, through the Mind Matrix we will show your how your mind works, so you have a basic understanding, enough so you can begin to master it.

Personality –

We all have personality traits.  Our personality traits are the distinguishing qualities or characteristics which make us partly who we are.  There are 5 major underlie our personality they are introversion/extroversion, openness, conscientiousness, agreeableness and neuroticism

Skills –

on the other hand, are the learned capacity to carry out specific tasks. They are competences or the talents to do things.

How does the big 5 relate to Myers Briggs (MBTI?)
  • Extroversion – Introversion
  • Sensing – Intuition
  • Thinking – Feeling
  • Judging – Perceiving

Behaviour –

the way in which we conduct ourselves.

Beliefs –

Our beliefs are simply thoughts we hold about ourselves, others and the world around us.  Some of our beliefs are grounded in truths and some of our beliefs are simply just that, beliefs.  I.e., Our opinion or outlook. Some of our beliefs are helpful and some are unhelpful. Needs more

Values –

Our values are our deeply help principles by which we live our life.

Emotion –

Our emotions are a physiological response which also involve a subjective experience and a behavioural or expressive response.  Put simply, an emotion is how we feel about something.

Put really simply, events in the world happen.
We call these trigger events.

Trigger events can be things people say and do that cause us to have an emotional reaction. We take these in through our 5 senses.

Our unconscious mind then makes connections with past events, (memories) and gives us thoughts about what is happening. It is these thoughts which drive our emotions. Together, our thoughts and feelings (our state), the drives our behaviour (our response). As not all of our thinking is helpful, or indeed true, not all the behaviour it drives are helpful either.
Our emotions are always true, but what those emotions are based on, i.e. our thoughts, are often faulty.
Research and experience in this field has shown us that we tend to have habitual thinking patterns. That is, we tend to react internally in similar ways.
